Art Resources

Books

I have used and still use numerous resources so to think of them all right now is a bit much. But I'll update this section over time every time I remember a source.

Anatomy for Sculptors - Uldis Zarins

The Study-book of Mediæval Architecture and Art - Thomas H. King

Manga in Theory and Practice: The Craft of Creating Manga - Hirohiko Araki

HEMA

Wiktenauer

A wiki of all the HEMA treatises.

Youtubers

Björn Rüther

Mostly focused on the German tradition, there are useful videos and playlists for various German weapons. A great entry point if youre new to HEMA or want to dabble in it.

Federico Malagutti

A talented fencer who has very informative videos.

Dequitem

Non-choreographed fights recorded in a cinematic format. A must watch if you want to see some realistic fighting.

Daniel Pope

A VERY talented fencer who I've fought against numerous times. His information is very useful even if some of the content is for more advanced fencers.

Adorea Olomouc

Focused more on choreographed fighting but the techniques they use are realistic.

My favourite treatises:

Il Fior di Battaglia - Fiore de'i Liberi (also known as Fiore Furlano)

The Art of the Sabre and the Epee - Luigi Barbasetti

Opera Nova - Achille Marozzo
